Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Century Propels Rajasthan Royals to Dominant Win Over Gujarat Titans
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old sensation from Bihar, wrote his name into the IPL history books with a record-shattering century that powered the Rajasthan Royals to a resounding eight-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chasing a daunting target of 210, Suryavanshi unleashed a breathtaking onslaught on the league’s best bowling attack, reaching his hundred in just 35 balls—the fastest by any Indian in IPL history. This remarkable feat broke Yusuf Pathan’s longstanding 37-ball record from 2010 and marked Suryavanshi as the second-fastest centurion in IPL history and the youngest ever to score a T20 century for Rajasthan Royals.
Opening the batting, Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal forged a monstrous 166-run partnership, the highest for any wicket in Rajasthan Royals’ history, eclipsing the previous best of 155. Suryavanshi’s knock of 101 off 38 balls included 11 sixes—the most by an Indian in an IPL innings—and an astounding 94 runs in boundaries, reflecting his relentless intent as he attempted boundaries on 26 of the 37 balls faced. Even seasoned bowlers struggled as he showcased a heady mix of power, precision, and youthful fearlessness.
Jaiswal, who contributed a composed unbeaten 70 off 40 balls, watched from the other end as Suryavanshi’s extraordinary ball-striking turned the chase into a one-sided affair. The Royals’ pursuit was completed in just 15.5 overs, keeping their playoff hopes alive amid a must-win scenario and ending a streak of three narrow defeats in previous high-pressure chases.
Suryavanshi’s rise is even more inspiring considering his humble beginnings in Tajpur, Samastipur, and the sacrifices made by his family to support his cricketing dreams. With this historic performance, the teenager not only ignited the stadium but also announced himself as one of the brightest emerging stars in global cricket.
