India Revokes Visas, Orders Pakistani Nationals to Leave Amid Escalating Diplomatic Tensions
India has revoked all existing visas for Pakistani nationals, ordering them to leave by April 29, in response to a deadly terror attack that has sharply escalated tensions between the two countries.

The Indian government has announced the immediate revocation of all valid visas issued to Pakistani nationals in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. According to the official statement, the decision will take effect from April 27, 2025, with the exception of medical visas, which will remain valid until April 29, 2025. All Pakistani nationals currently residing in India have been ordered to leave the country before their amended visa expiry dates.

This move follows a series of escalating measures, including the suspension of visa services for future applicants, the closure of the sole operational land border crossing at Attari, and the downgrading of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The government has also strongly advised Indian nationals to avoid travel to Pakistan and requested those currently in Pakistan to return to India as soon as possible.

The recent attack near Pahalgam, attributed by Indian authorities to cross-border elements with alleged links to Pakistan, has significantly heightened bilateral tensions. In response, Pakistan has shut its airspace to Indian airlines and suspended all trade with India, including third-country transactions.

Authorities have begun identifying and tracking Pakistani citizens located across India to ensure compliance with the new directive, warning of deportation under the Foreigners Act for those who fail to depart in time. Diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan remain at one of their lowest points, with both countries implementing reciprocal restrictions and closures amid the escalating crisis.
